TOKYO, April 21 (UPI) — The Japanese Finance Ministry, noting improvements in industrial production and exports, Wednesday upgraded its assessment in the latest quarterly report.
The report covering the quarter ended March also noted improvements in consumer confidence and employment conditions, attributed to the government’s stimulus measures, Kyodo News said.
It was the first such upgrading of assessment since the July-September quarter, Kyodo said.
”There are signs of recovery especially in production activity even as the economy remains in a difficult situation,” the report said, adding industrial output has grown with automakers and general machinery makers seeing increased export demand.
The report, which comprises regional evaluations in six regions, said domestic auto sales also are on the rise.
