HUNT VALLEY, Md., Sept. 10 (UPI) — AAI Corp. said its new Electronic Warfare simulator has been delivered and installed at the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in California.
The Advanced Architecture Phase, Amplitude and Time Simulator verifies that aircraft EW systems can precisely locate, identify and defend against radio frequency threats, including ground-based and surface-to-air missiles.
The company said the system uses a unique direct port architecture — a modular, plug-and-play technology using identical phase-coherent, direct digital synthetic stimulus instruments as the RF source for all signals.
“Our A2PATS system fills an urgent need for EW simulation, as aging simulators are reaching the limit of their ability to perform with today’s new EW systems,” said Vice President of Test & Training Systems Robert Peters. “Not only can A2PATS provide far greater capabilities than legacy systems, it can be utilized with most of the Navy’s airborne EW systems.”
In addition, the A2PATS platform can “adapt easily to future system needs.”
AAI is a Textron Inc. company. The A2PATS was delivered to the NAWCWD at China Lake, Calif., under a subcontract from Applied Geo Technologies Inc.
