WASHINGTON, July 28 (UPI) — Fort Collins, Colo., firm phil&teds USA is recalling 8,300 strollers due to faulty brake mechanisms, a watchdog agency said Thursday.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the strollers were imported from China and sold nationwide from August 2010 through June 2011 for between $475 and $500.
The firm has received eight reports of brake mechanisms failing, the commission said in a statement.
The strollers were sold under brand names Explorer and Hammerhead Strollers.
The strollers were sold in single and double seat models. The Explorer has three wheels and the Hammerhead has four. Both have canopies.
The Explorer was sold in a variety of colors. The Hammerhead was sold only in black.
Consumers were advised to stop using the strollers and contact phil&teds to arrange for an upgraded brake assembly.
