WASHINGTON, April 22 (UPI) — Broomfield, Colo., company CAMP USA Inc. is recalling 15,500 climbing carabiners and quickdraws that could fail, posing risk of injury, federal regulators said.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the carabiner gate could open under a heavy load.

The carabiners, clips meant to secure climbing ropes, were imported from China and sold nationwide from February 2011 through March 2011 for between $8 and $12.

The recall involves Photon carabiners and Photon and March Express quickdraws, which are used as extenders to anchor a climber, the commission said.

The carabiners were sold in a variety of colors. The quickdraws include a white or black fabric strap with green, yellow or gray stitching.

Consumers were advised to stop using these products and contact CAMP USA to return them for a full refund.
